Progress with the Death Penalty
Today's good news is this article. Did you know that the death penalty appears to be losing favor in the United States? I don't know about you, but this makes me so happy to hear. The death penalty tends to be used disproportionately on people of color, and I don't think it really acts as a deterrent from committing crimes. There might have been a time and a place for the death penalty, once in humanity's long past, but that time and place are not here and long gone by now. I hope this trend continues and one day we can say the death penalty in America is no more.
The next several years are going to be difficult, and I wanted a place to share positive things. Here, I will embrace the happy, joyful, and amazing things in the world. If I have to play The Glad Game for the next four years to get through them, then so be it! I am fully embracing my inner Pollyanna.

The Wonders of Science
Today's post features this article: Artificial Leaf
When I first read this article today, I immediately thought, "What sorcery has allowed us to create such a magnificent thing as this?!" But it wasn't sorcery, it was science...Scientists in Holland have invented a pack that will grow medicine in it with only the sun needed to activate it! They look like autumn leaves, and the medicine develops right inside of it. This will allow people to develop medication for people without needing a man-made power source. So, nations who are still battling malaria, for example, will be able to utilize this very easily.
I don't know how people think of these sorts of ideas, but I'm glad they're around! This could revolutionize how medication is produced and distributed to people. It's also inexpensive to produce and will hopefully also change things for the better, in terms of how much medications cost. I can only imagine how many lives this will eventually save.
